Historic Wilmington

Wilmington, North Carolina, and the Cape Fear coast's historical relevance began in the 16th century, during the first European attempts to settle our untamed coastline. Treasured for (among other things) Long Leaf and Loblolly pines, the Wilmington community began to grow up around the turpentine and naval goods industry. Nautical by nature, Wilmington and the Cape Fear coast has always been one of the Nations most important ports, and as such, its community sprouted up along the banks of the Cape Fear River, and along the beachfront of the Atlantic Ocean.

Now a days, you can still see and experience Wilmington's rich history, in not only its 230-block historical district complete with dozens of century old homes and buildings, but in its museums, art galleries, and oral histories as well. Autumn Hall will be a new extension of this old history.
